the people

  • Sarah Feng, Editor-in-Chief

is a sophomore in Trumbull College studying Neuroscience & Humanities. I also photograph for the Yale Farm and volunteer for Alzheimer’s Buddies. You can find me hosting tea parties, baking in the Trumbull kitchen, painting in the CEID, and talking walks through East Rock. My favorite books of all time are Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel and the White Album by Joan Didion. My career aspirations are to one day run a famous Instagram account for memes.

  • Suraj Singareddy, Lead Poetry Editor

is a current sophomore in TD, majoring in English. Outside of Cortex, you might see me working with audio at the Yale Daily News, doing theatre stuff here and there, or binge-reading a graphic novel. I also have ambitious plans to begin biking next year, so maybe you'll see me doing that!

  • Roxana Grunenwald, Lead Nonfiction Editor

is a sophomore in Branford College studying Philosophy and Humanities. My favorite thing in the whole wide world is thinking about thinking, and how to best think about thinking. I'm currently getting very into aesthetics (love me a good 'delightful terror'), and you can also find me working with Yale's Office of Sustainability as Branford's Sustainability Liaison, taking long evening walks around campus, and peeling my 8th cutie of the day with tangerine-stained hands. :)

  • Lee Johns, Lead Fiction Editor

is a sophomore in Franklin College majoring in History. Outside of class, you can find me singing with the Yale Slavic Chorus, playing balalaika, and drawing alone in my room. My favorite text adventure games are "Anchorhead" and "Bee."

  • Zara Belo, Art Editor

is in the Ezra Stiles class of 2025 studying neuroscience on the pre-med track. I dabble in fashion, makeup, and theater on campus. My daily Instagram story is jam-packed with my different fits and looks, and my campus life is either walking the runway or on the main stage, or in the clinic! My next step is designing my own clothes, so keep your eyes peeled!

  • Sheyla Rodriguez, Poetry Editor

is a current first year in Stiles, planning to major in History. You can usually find me at La Casa, or at Bass finishing up my Chinese Hw. My favorite show is Hannibal and I can talk about it non-stop! Next year I hope to become a Spanish tutor and start doing some singing.

  • Leander He, Poetry Editor

(they/he) is a Linguistics major in Trumbull College '26. I especially have an interest in East Asian languages! Outside of CORTEX, I’m still always waxing poetic about queerness and language.

  • William Archacki, Fiction Editor

is a first-year in Pierson College studying Chemistry. Alongside Cortex, I write for Yale Scientific Magazine, and I explore the woods around New Haven trying my best to recognize bird songs with the Yale Birding Society. I can’t ever recommend Clarice Lispector’s writing enough. Seriously — go read The Passion According to G.H.

  • Adam Tufts, Nonfiction Editor

is a current freshman in Berkeley College (go thundercoqs!?) looking to study History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health and maybe English too! I also spend my time working as a chemistry lab tech, tutoring, and writing for the Yale Daily News' opinion desk. When not occupied with any of the above, you'll find me blasting my eardrums out to Taylor Swift or curled up with some terrifying yet oddly comforting Stephen King novel.

  • Meilan Haberl, Nonfiction Editor

is a 24.5 in Pauli Murray studying Psychology. I'm also an incoming FROCO, former CCE, and current Writing Partner at the Poorvu Center. You can catch me rollerblading around campus (trying not to be late for class), or curled up in a Beinecke armchair (lusting shamelessly after the rare books.)

  • Miye Sugino, Art Editor

(she/her) is a first-year student in Grace Hopper College, interested in Humanities and Art. Outside of Cortex, I also love the Yale Undergraduate Prison Project, Japanese American Students Union, and UCW student ministry. You can find me exploring the food and art scene in New Haven.

  • Micah Greyeyes, Art Editor

is a junior in Berkeley College majoring in Theater and Performance Studies. Outside of CORTEX, I'm a Peer Liaison for the NACC and I'm also involved with extracurricular theater. I love watching movies (check out @cinemicah on Instagram…) and drinking iced coffee at Willoughby's. My absolute favourite thing to do is draw while listening to the assortment of sped-up SoundCloud remixes that I find off of TikTok.

  • Marshall Adams, Music Composer

is a junior in Silliman College double-majoring in History and German Studies. Beyond CORTEX, I work as a Peer Liaison for the Yale Office of LGBTQ Resources, sing bass in the jazz a cappella group Redhot & Blue, and play the flute, with the Davenport Pops orchestra. In my free time, I can be found scrolling through Twitter, playing indie RPGs, listening to alt rock, or getting coffee at Atticus!

  • Antonis Christou, Music Composer

(Grace Hopper ’24) is a composer and double bassist from Moorestown, New Jersey studying Computing and the Arts. In my spare time, I enjoy trying to learn to play any vaguely bass shaped object, adding to my stack of pretentious novels, and attempting to use increasingly strange technology to make cool sounding beeps and boops. Currently, I am taking a gap year to study at Yonsei University in South Korea through the Light Fellowship.

  • Ilana Zaks, Music Composer

is a violinist, collaborator, and teacher. She is a member of the Seattle Symphony and a graduate of the Yale School of Music. You can learn more about her here.

  • Michael Gancz, Music Composer

    (b. 1999, MY '22) is a composer, producer, and music theorist currently based in Mechelen, Belgium. They are a frequent collaborator with writers and artists, and their music spans multiple platforms, including gallery installations, web art, live concerts, and video games. Their research deals with sound spatialization, cultural evolution, and machine learning. You can find some of their work at michaelgancz.com.

  • Mela Johnson, Fiction Editor

is a current sophomore in Davenport studying anthropology and mechanical engineering. Outside of CORTEX, I can be found running live sound for concerts in the basement of 216 Dwight, practicing my waltz toe-loop combination with the figure skating club, going for long walks in the graveyard, and lovingly customizing my Neocities site.
