“no matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.” – Cinderella

she calls out from under her cart’s awning, urging

me to remember her again, cinderella. (you and i, friends

since birth, girls with pretty destinies whose biggest job is to

believe. so believe.)  and she presses a bottle

against my heart, asks if there’s someone i love because

it’s a buy one get one free, and there’s no better gift in this wonderful

world than the latest bottle of hope (you and i, main characters with

big destinies. can i crack open your rib cage, tarot-read the

patterns in which they shatter?) and she tells me to open my

heart because she loves me, because disney loves me, because

the world loves me. i ask her what a princess is doing here (you and i,

exploring limitless loss? home?...possibilities, finding our true selves

so trust this drink and drink), ask her where prince charming is (you

and i, sick hope why?) , where her fairy godmother is (you and i, d-ead hope

less?), where did she get all this hope from? (you and i, you and i, you and i, you

and i buy a whole carton and start downing them on the spot.
